Eddy Alvarez bobblehead giveaway is July 8

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (June 20, 2017) -- Fans can take home a podium-worthy giveaway on Saturday, July 8, when the Kannapolis Intimidators host Eddy Alvarez bobblehead night. The first 1,000 fans will receive a figure of the Olympic silver medalist wearing speed skates -- a nod to his two-sport success -- while in the unique left-handed batting stance he used during his two seasons in Kannapolis. Gates open on July 8 at 6:00 p.m. with first pitch against the Hagerstown Suns at 7:05 p.m.

Alvarez, a fan favorite during his time in Kannapolis, joined the Intimidators on the heels of an Olympic silver medal at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi. He took home silver for the United States as part of the 5,000-meter relay in short track speed skating. His bobblehead featurs the skater-turned-shortstop on ice while in his batting stance wearing the Intimidators home white uniform and speed-skates instead of cleats. Following the game, fans will be treated to a dazzling fireworks display.
