Jacob Blank and Joe Cronin join Kernels

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Andrew Cabezas and Michael Davis have been placed on the 7-day injured list; RHP Jacob Blank joins the Kernels from Elizabethton and INF Joe Cronin joins the Kernels from Pensacola. Brian Maloney, Senior Manager of Minor League Operations, announced the move.
The Twins selected Blank in the 22nd round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of Augustana (SD) University. He made seven relief appearances at Elizabethton in 2018, posting a 1-0 record, 3.97 ERA and 1 save. In 11.1 IP, he allowed 10 hits and five runs (all earned) with three walks and 13 strikeouts.
Cronin was a member of the Kernels 2019 Opening Day roster and was assigned to Pensacola on April 14th. In six games for the Kernels, he was batting .263 (5-19) with an RBI and was selected by the Twins in the 34th round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Boston College.
Cabezas goes on the IL with a left ankle sprain. He has made three starts for the Kernels this season, posting an 0-2 record and 6.92 ERA. In 13 IP, he allowed 14 hits and 11 runs (10 earned) with seven walks and 14 strikeouts.
Davis goes on the IL with a right knee sprain. He's played in 15 games for the Kernels this season, batting .295 (13-44) with five doubles and six RBI.

Blank and Cronin are active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM game at Wisconsin. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with five players on the injured list, and one player on the restricted list.
The Kernels are in the midst of a seven-game road trip that continues tonight at 6:35 PM at Wisconsin. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, April 30th and open a six-game home stand against Bowling Green and Dayton.
