JC Correa Takes Home South Atlantic League Player of the Week
ASHEVILLE- Minor League Baseball has announced its League Players of the Week from July 11-17 and Asheville’s JC Correa was named the South Atlantic League recipient. Correa is the second offensive player to win the award for the Tourists this year. Colin Barber won it the first week of June.
ASHEVILLE- Minor League Baseball has announced its League Players of the Week from July 11-17 and Asheville’s JC Correa was named the South Atlantic League recipient. Correa is the second offensive player to win the award for the Tourists this year. Colin Barber won it the first week of June.
During the week of July 11-17, Correa appeared in all six games for Asheville and he helped them win five with multi-hit efforts in each victory. Correa went 13-for-26, a .500 batting average, with two Home Runs, six doubles, seven runs scored, nine RBI, and one walk. JC did not strike out once during the week.
On the season, Correa ranks fifth in the SAL with a .311 batting average and eighth in hits with 78. Since May 1, JC leads the entire South Atlantic League and is seventh in all of Minor League Baseball with a .349 batting average.
Correa signed with the Houston Astros as a Non-Drafted Free Agent in 2020 out of Lamar University. JC and the Tourists are back in action on Friday, July 22 in Bowling Green, Kentucky for Game One of a three-game series against the Bowling Green Hot Rods.
