Suarez, 20, made three starts with the BayBears to finish April after starting the month with Inland Empire. He struck out nine batters in his Double-A debut against Biloxi and fanned seven on the road at Montgomery in his third outing. Suarez gave up just five runs, four earned, with 18 strikeouts in 12 2/3 innings pitched with Mobile in April.
In two starts with Inland Empire to begin the season, Suarez walked just one batter and recorded 18 strikeouts in nine innings pitched. He allowed four runs, two earned, on six hits.
Suarez is currently the Angels No. 6 pitching prospect, and he is ranked No. 12 overall in the organization, according to MLB Pipeline. The Venezuelan is in his fourth professional season, after signing with the Angels as an international free agent on July 3, 2014.
