Kernels and Twins announce a series of roster moves

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce a series of roster moves involving eight position players. Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce a series of roster moves involving eight position players. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the moves.
Infielders Jermaine Palacios and Brandon Lopez, catcher Mitchell Kranson and outfielder Jaylin Davis have all been promoted to Fort Myers of the Florida State League. Joining the Kernels are infielders Joe Cronin, Amaurys Minier and Gorge Munoz and outfielder Lean Marrero from Elizabethton.
The Twins selected Cronin in the 34th round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Boston College. He hit .198 with a HR and 7 RBI in 24 games with the GCL Twins last season.
The Twins selected Marrero in the 16th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of Leadership Christian Academy in Puerto Rico. He hit .290 with 2 HR and 12 RBI in 36 games with the GCL Twins in 2016.
The Twins signed Minier as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2012 and he spent 2016 at Elizabethton where he hit .222 with 10 HR and 32 RBI in 48 games.
The Twins signed Munoz as a non-drafted free agent on April 12, 2014. He spent 2016 with the GCL Twins where he hit .256 with 2 HR and 18 RBI in 54 games.

Palacios, Lopez, Kranson and Davis were all on the Kernels 2017 Opening Day Roster and Palacios and Kranson were named starters on the MWL Western Division All-Star team. Davis leads the team with 12 HR and 41 RBI, while Palacios leads the team with a .320 batting average. Lopez has hit .276 with 13 RBI in 53 games and Kranson has hit .268 with 15 doubles and 21 RBI in 57 games.
Cronin, Marrero, Minier and Munoz are all active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM game at Quad Cities. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the Midwest League maximum of 25 active players, with three players currently on the DL.
The Kernels continue a four-game road trip tonight at 6:35 PM at Quad Cities. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, June 26th and open a four game set with the Burlington Bees.
