PEARL, MS -- Outfielder Connor Lien  and RHP Mike Soroka  have been named Mississippi Farm Bureau Player and Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Sunday, June 11.
Lien, 23, posted a .296 batting average in seven games during the week. The outfielder had a double, a home run and three RBI. In 53 games with the Double-A Braves this season, Lien is hitting .207 with seven doubles, a triple, six homers and 17 RBI. Lien missed a large portion of the 2016 season after exiting the M-Braves game on opening day last year. He returned after the all-star break and finished the season with a .233 average in 64 contests. A native of Windermere, FL, Lien was selected by the Braves in the 12th round of the 2012 draft.
Soroka, 19, made two starts during the week and did not allow a run over 15 innings of work. The young righty, who was recently selected as a 2017 Southern League All-Star, held opponents to just seven hits while striking out 13 batters. The Braves No. 4 prospect, as ranked by Baseball America, is 7-3 with a 2.45 ERA in 12 starts on the season at Double-A Mississippi. Opponents are hitting just .204 against him. Soroka went 9-9 in 25 games for the Rome club last season, posting a 3.02 ERA. He ranked tied for third among all Braves minor leaguers in wins, fifth in total innings pitched (143.0), sixth in starters ERA and eighth in strikeouts (125). The Canadian was selected by the Braves in the first round (28th overall) of the 2015 draft.
