Logan Lombana joins Kernels from Extended Spring Training

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Logan Lombana will join the Kernels from Extended Spring Training and RHP Alex Schick has been placed on the 7-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
The Twins selected Lombana in the 25th round of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of Cal State Long Beach. He split time during the 2016 season between Fort Myers and the Kernels, posting a 5.06 ERA in 14 relief appearances in Cedar Rapids. In 26.2 IP, he allowed 27 hits and 15 runs (all earned) with 11 walks and 27 strikeouts.
Schick has made two starts for the Kernels this year, posting a 1-1 record and 6.10 ERA. In 10.1 IP, he allowed 14 hits and seven runs (all earned) with two walks and ten strikeouts.
Lombana is active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM game against the Kane County Cougars. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with four players currently on the DL.
The Kernels begin a seven game home series tonight at 6:35 PM against the Kane County Cougars, the Midwest League affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Gates open at 5:30 PM and the current home stand continues through Wednesday, April 26th.
