Mitch Nay Named SL Player of the Month

The Chandler, Arizona native will also be the Southern League's representative for Minor League Baseball's Player of the Month Award

Nay, 25, was named the Southern League's Player of the Week yesterday after starting the second half for the Chattanooga Lookouts with a stretch that included six multi-hit games and 16 runs batted in.

Across the entire month of June, Nay led the league and finished fifth across Minor League Baseball with 29 RBIs in 27 games. He also ranked among the Southern League leaders in numerous offensive categories including runs scored (19, 2nd), hits (37, T-2nd), total bases (61, T-1st), batting average (.356, 5th), on-base percentage (.398, 9th), slugging percentage (.587, 5th), and OPS (.985, 5th).
Through 66 games, Nay leads the Southern League in slugging (.551) and is also among the league leaders in batting average (.303, 4th), RBIs (45, T-4th), extra-base hits (27, 7th), and OPS (.913, T-1st).
Across 129 total outings for both the Pensacola Blue Wahoos and Chattanooga Lookouts from 2018-19, Nay is hitting .282 (118-for-419) with 16 home runs and 71 runs batted in.

The Cincinnati Reds acquired Nay from the Toronto Blue Jays organization during the Triple-A phase of the 2017 MLB Rule-5 Draft. Toronto had previously drafted Nay no. 58 overall in the 2012 MLB Amateur Draft out of Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona.
