PEARL, MS -- Mississippi Braves infielder Dylan Moore  and LHP Luiz Gohara  have been named Mississippi Farm Bureau Player and Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Sunday, July 23.
Moore, 24, played in six games during the week and posted a .318 batting average. He went 7-for-22 with a double and three RBI. In 85 games with the Double-A Braves this season, Moore has a .181 average with 10 doubles, three home runs and 29 RBI. He's hitting .303 in 19 games during the month of July. The California native was acquired by the Braves from the Texas Rangers as part of a three-team trade on August 24, 2016. Moore was originally selected by the Rangers in the seventh round of the 2015 draft out of the University of Central Florida.
Gohara, 20, tossed six scoreless innings against the Shuckers Saturday night at Trustmark Park. The southpaw held Biloxi to just five hits while striking out 11 batters to pick up the victory. In 12 games, 11 starts, for the Double-A Braves this season, Gohara is 2-1 with a 2.60 ERA. He's struck out 60 while walking just 18 in 52.0 innings of work. He was 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA in seven starts for the Fire Frogs before his promotion to Mississippi on May 10. Last season, Gohara combined to post a record of 7-2 with a 1.81 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 13 starts between R-Everett and Low-A Clinton. A native of Brazil, Gohara was acquired by the Braves along with LHP Thomas Burrows from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for OF Mallex Smith and RHP Shae Simmons on January 11, 2017. He was the Mariners No. 3 prospect at the time per Baseball America.
