PEARL, MS -- Mississippi Braves infielder Dylan Moore and RHP Wes Parsons have been named Mississippi Farm Bureau Player and Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Sunday, July 16.
Moore, 24, played in six games during the week and posted a .412 batting average. He went 7-for-17 with a double, one RBI, one run scored and a stolen base. In 79 games with the Double-A Braves this season, Moore has a .171 average with nine doubles, three home runs and 26 RBI. He's hitting .302 in 13 games during the month of July. The California native was acquired by the Braves from the Texas Rangers as part of a three-team trade on August 24, 2016. Moore was originally selected by the Rangers in the seventh round of the 2015 draft out of the University of Central Florida.
Parsons, 24, made two starts during the week and posted a 0.75 ERA. He held opponents to one earned run on seven hits, two walks and 12 strikeouts in 12 innings of work. Parsons was named Braves organizational pitcher of the month in May at Double-A Mississippi, appearing in five games (two spot-starts) and recording a 1.69 ERA. He has split time between Triple-A Gwinnett and Double-A Mississippi this season. Parsons is 1-2 with two saves and a 2.93 ERA in 17 games with the M-Braves this season. With the G-Braves, he had an 8.64 ERA in four outings, one start. A native of Clarksville, TN, Parsons was signed by the Braves as a non-drafted free agent on July 30, 2012.
