Pfeifer, Moore claim monthly honors

PEARL, MS --  The Atlanta Braves announced the minor league pitchers and players of the month for July. For the Double-A Mississippi club, LHP Philip Pfeifer  and infielder Dylan Moore  were selected for the monthly accolades.
Moore, 24, posted a .304 batting average in 26 games during the month of July. He had five doubles, seven RBI and five stolen bases. In 96 games with the Double-A Braves this season, Moore has a .191 average with 11 doubles, three home runs and 31 RBI. The California native was acquired by the Braves from the Texas Rangers as part of a three-team trade on August 24, 2016. Moore was originally selected by the Rangers in the seventh round of the 2015 draft out of the University of Central Florida.
Pfeifer, 25, posted a 1.38 ERA in eight relief appearances during the month of July at Double-A Mississippi. He'd struck out 15 in 13 innings of work. The southpaw was promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett earlier this week. He was 1-3 with three saves and a 3.45 ERA in 30 relief appearances for the M-Braves this season. He'd struck out 68 batters while walking 33 in 44.1 innings pitched. Pfeifer did not allow a run in eight outings during the month of June. Last season, Pfeifer started at Low-A Great Lakes (1-0, 1.00) before joining High-A Rancho Cucamonga (2-1, 3.33). He made 14 relief appearances with the Quakes before being traded to the Atlanta organization as part of a multi-player deal with the Dodgers on June 30, 2016. At High-A Carolina, Pfeifer had two saves and a 2.57 ERA in six appearances. He finished the season with the M-Braves, going 1-0 with a 4.35 ERA in 11 outings. Pfeifer was originally selected by the Dodgers in the third round of the 2015 draft out of Vanderbilt.
