Randy Dobnak joins Kernels from Elizabethton

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Randy Dobnak will join the Kernels from Elizabethton (APPY). Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
The Twins signed Dobnak as a non-drafted free agent on August 1, 2017 out of Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia. He made ten starts during his senior season, posting a 6-4 record and 2.69 ERA with one shutout and five complete games. He made five appearances at Elizabethton (three starts) posting a 2-0 record and 2.39 ERA with one save. In 26.1 IP, he allowed 19 hits and seven runs (all earned) with six walks and 22 strikeouts.
Dobnak is active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM game with Burlington. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at the Midwest League maximum of 25 active players, with seven players currently on the DL and one player currently on the military leave list.

The Kernels are in the midst of the final three-game home stand of the regular season against the Burlington Bees that continues through Friday, September 1st. All game start at 6:35 PM with the gates opening at 5:30 PM.
