Rickey Ramirez joins Kernels from Extended Spring Training

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Rickey Ramirez joins the Kernels from Extended Spring Training and RHP Moises Gomez has been assigned to Extended. Jeremy Zoll, Twins Director of Minor League Operations, announced the move.
The Twins selected Ramirez in the 15th round of the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of Fresno State. He made 15 relief appearances at Elizabethton last season, with no record, a 5.52 ERA and two saves. In 29.1 IP, he allowed 26 hits and 21 runs (18 earned) with 13 walks and 21 strikeouts.
Gomez has made four relief appearances for the Kernels in 2018, posting an 0-0 record and 3.86 ERA. In 7 IP, he allowed seven hits and three runs (all earned) with three walks and seven strikeouts. He was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent on April 9, 2014.
Ramirez is active and available for today's 1:15 DH at Quad Cities. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with five players currently on the DL, one player on the suspended list and one player on the military leave list.

The Kernels continue a four-game, three-day road trip at Quad Cities with a DH this afternoon at 1:15 PM. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, May 1st to open a six-game home stand against South Bend and West Michigan.
