Ricky De La Torre joins Kernels from Elizabethton

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that INF Ricky De La Torre will join the Kernels from Elizabethton and INF Michael Davis has been promoted to double-A Pensacola. Brian Maloney, Senior Manager of Minor League Operations, announced the moves.
The Twins selected De La Torre in the sixth round of the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. He spent the 2018 season at Elizabethton where he hit .254 (43-169) with 4 HR and 12 RBI in 49 games.
Davis has played in 21 games for the Kernels this season, batting .266 (17-64) with six doubles and 8 RBI. He was selected by the Twins in the 24th round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of Texas Tech.
De La Torre is active and available for tonight's 6:30 PM game at Clinton. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with three players on the injured list.

The Kernels begin a three-game commuter series with the Clinton LumberKings tonight at 6:30 PM. The current road trip continues through Monday, June 10th and the Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, June 11th to host the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at 6:35 PM.
