Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that OF Shane Carrier has been promoted to Fort Myers and INF Robby Rinn joins the Kernels from Extended Spring Training. Brian Maloney, Twins Senior Manager of Minor League Operations, announced the move.
The Twins acquired Rinn in a trade with the Kansas City Royals on March 20, 2018. He was originally drafted by the Royals in the 25th round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Bryant University. He spent 2017 with Idaho Falls of the Pioneer League, where he hit .355 with 6 HR and 59 RBI in 69 games. He played six games for Fort Myers in 2018, batting .214 (3-14) with two doubles.
Carrier was a member of the Kernels 2018 Opening Day roster and in 37 games, he hit .231 with 5 HR and 22 RBI. He was selected by the twins in the 8th round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Fullerton College.

Rinn is active and available for tonight's 6:35 PM game with Wisconsin. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with six players currently on the DL, one player on the suspended list and one player on the military leave list.
The Kernels are in the midst of a nine-game, seven-day homestand that continues today against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers tonight at 6:35 PM with the gates opening at 5:30 PM. The current homestand continues through Thursday, May 31st.
