BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Toronto Blue Jays announced Wednesday that infielder Tanner Morris has been promoted from the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.
Morris reached base in 17 consecutive games from May 12 - June 4, the longest on-base streak for the Fisher Cats this season. During that stretch, he hit .364 (24-for-66) with seven doubles, 10 walks, and a .455 on-base percentage.
As of Wednesday’s promotion, Morris was leading the Fisher Cats and ranked top five in the Eastern League among qualified players in batting average (.312), on-base percentage (.430), walks (30), and runs scored (35). He was also the team-leader in OPS (.898).
The Crozet, Va., native was selected by the Blue Jays in the fifth round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of the University of Virginia. Morris is currently the No. 29 prospect in the organization, according to MLB Pipeline. This is the first time he has been promoted to Triple-A in his career, and he will join 2022 Fisher Cats pitchers Max Castillo, Jake Elliott, and Adrian Hernandez on the Buffalo roster.
In a corresponding move, outfielder Zac Cook has been activated from the 7-day injured list.
The Fisher Cats return to Delta Dental Stadium for a 13-game homestand Tuesday, June 14 - Sunday, June 26 against the Somerset Patriots (Yankees affiliate) and Altoona Curve (Pirates affiliate).
