Texas Rangers Purchase Contract of OF Jared Hoying

Hoying re-joins the Rangers for the fourth time after making his major league debut on May 23, 2016. The outfielder spent time with Texas from May 23-June 13, July 6-26 and September 2 through the end of the season. In 38 total games with the club, Hoying hit .217 (10-46) with a pair of doubles and five RBI. He was primarily used as a pinch runner and hitter during Texas' run to the playoffs.
The 27-year-old was in his fifth consecutive year with the Express at the time of his promotion. He combined to hit .242 (31-128) in 36 games while posting a team-high nine doubles, seven home runs and 23 RBI. The Sidney, Ohio native was also selected as the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for April 24-30.
Stubbs returns to Round Rock for the third time in his career. He appeared in seven games with the club after being signed by the Rangers as a minor league free agent near the end of the 2015 season. The 34-year-old suited up in 12 games for the E-Train last season during a major league rehab assignment. He hit .231 (9-39) with four doubles, a pair of homers and 10 RBI during his most recent stint with the team.
The veteran outfielder was in spring training with Minnesota as a non-roster invitee before being released on March 26. He signed a minor league deal with San Francisco on April 6, hitting .091 (2-22) in 10 games with the Giants. He is expected to be active for tonight's game in Reno.
