Wells has made six starts for the Kernels this season, posting a 2-0 record and 2.65 ERA. In 34 IP, he allowed 27 hits and 10 runs (all earned) with 45 strikeouts and just 10 walks. He was selected by the Twins in the 15th round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Cal State San Bernardino.
The Twins did not announce a corresponding move. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster is at 24 active players, one below the Midwest League maximum of 25, with five players currently on the DL.
The Kernels are in the midst of a six-game road trip tonight in Bowling Green at 6:35 PM. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, May 15th and open a four-game, three-day home series with the Peoria Chiefs. First pitch on Monday is set for 5:30 PM with the gates opening at 4:30 PM.
