Ryan Noda then belted a triple off the centerfield wall that allowed Polizzi to score and tie the game at one apiece. DH Yorman Rodriguez gave the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead with a single into left that chased home Polizzi.
The Yankees responded promptly in the bottom of the 4th. Right fielder Steven Sensley hit a solo homerun on the first pitch of the inning to even the score at 2-2.
The Blue Jays reclaimed the lead in the top of the 5th. Leftfielder Tanner Kirwerwas hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Ryan Gold doubled into the left center gap to drive home Kirwer and give Bluefield a 3-2 advantage.
Jesus Navarro then dropped down a sacrifice bunt in front of Yankees starting pitcher Rony Garcia. Garcia's throw to 1st got away from Eric Wagaman which allowed Gold to score and Navarro to advance to 2nd to make the score 4-2. Leadoff hitter Chavez Young followed with a bunt base hit. The throw from third baseman Dermis Garcia glanced off Young's shoulder as he ran toward 1st which allowed Navarro to come across the plate to widen the Blue Jays lead to 5-2.
Pulaski threatened in the bottom of the 5th. Leobaldo Cabrera laid down a bunt but the throw from Bluefield starter Josh Winckowski sailed over the head of Noda at first base which allowed Cabrera to move to 2nd. With two outs Pablo Olivares drew a walk which ended Winckowski's night. In 4.2 innings pitched he surrendered two earned runs on two hits while walking two batters and striking out nine.
Right-handed reliever Mitch McKown took over on the mound and walked Sensley to load the bases. Garcia lined a hot shot back up the middle but Blue Jays shortstop Keven Smith laid out and snagged the sinking line drive for the 3rd out.
A two out double off the wall by Blue Jays third baseman Sterling Guzman in the top of the 6th brought Garcia's outing to a close. Garcia pitched 5.2 innings giving up four earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five batters.
Smith robbed the Yankees once again in the bottom of the 6th. With one out and the bases loaded Yeison Corredera singled into left to score Emery to make the score 5-3. Eduardo Torrealba sent what looked like a surefire single into left but Smith leapt into the air and took the base hit away. He then threw back to the 2nd base bag to double off Cabrera and end the inning.
The Yankees rallied off of Blue Jays reliever Tyler Olander to reclaim the lead in the bottom of the 7th. Pablo Olivares led off with a solo homerun that cleared the leftfield wall to make the score 5-4. Sensley ripped a single into right field that was followed by a Garcia double to put two runners in scoring position. Wagaman laced a base hit into left to drive home Sensley and even the score at five apiece.
Following back to back strikeouts Olander balked to bring home Garcia to give the Yankees a 6-5 lead.
The Blue Jays fought back and knotted the score in the top of the 8th. With two outs, back to back singles by Noda and Rodriguez put two runners on base. Guzman kept the two out rally alive with a bouncing single into right field to score Noda and even the score 6-6. Yankees reliever Juan Jimenez was able to limit the damage by striking out Kirwer to end the inning and leave two runners stranded. He was credited with the win to bring his record to 1-0 on the season.
The Yankees reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the 8th. Jose Nova issued a leadoff walk to Corredera. Torrealba then laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Corredera to 2nd. Olivares sent an RBI triple off the right field wall to give the Yankees a 7-6 edge. Later in the inning Garcia sent a moonshot three-run dinger over the left centerfield wall to make the score 10-6. Nova was given the loss to drop his record to 0-2.
The Blue Jays made a comeback attempt in the top of the 9th. A base hit by Gold and a walk to Navarro forced Yankees manager Luis Dorante to bring late inning reliever Kaleb Ort into the game. Ort nailed down the 10-6 Yankees win by striking out all three batters he faced in route to picking up his second save of the season.
Olivares, Sensley, Garcia, and Torres all finished with multi-hit nights for the Yankees. Noda, Rodriguez, Guzman and Gold all picked up two hits for the Blue Jays.
