The Quad Cities River Bandits had their game with the Lake County Captains suspended in the top of the first inning on Wednesday night at Classic Park. The game will be resumed on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. It will be a nine-inning contest with a seven-inning game to follow 30 minutes after the first concludes.
The River Bandits jumped out of the gates for the second straight night. Alex McKenna opened the game with a walk and raced to third on a single by Enmanuel Valdez. Valdez moved to second on the throw back to the infield. A balk by Lake County starter Alex Royalty allowed the first run to score and Jonathan Lacroix singled home another to put the Bandits ahead 2-0. Scott Schreiber and David Hensley singled in the next two at bats to load the bases with one out. At that point, Royalty departed the game alongside the athletic trainer with an apparent leg injury.
As the new pitcher began to get loose, the tarp was placed on the field and heavy rains began to fall. After 30-minute delay the game was officially suspended.

Cesar Salazar will be at the plate with the bases loaded when the game resumes. R.J. Freure (1-0, 0.63) will start the game as expected. RHP Nivaldo Rodriguez (2-1, 1.80) will take the mound in game two.
