Six-run eighth wins it for Reading

Fightin Phils scored a season-high six runs in the eighth inning

The Fightin Phils (27-22) battled back late against the Flying Squirrels (22-25) as they won 6-3 on Sunday afternoon. Reading scored six runs in the eighth inning. Jesse Biddle started the game and didn't receive a decision.  

Mac Williamson of Richmond tripled with two-outs off Biddle in the top of the first inning then scored on a wild-pitch to give the Flying Squirrels a 1-0 lead. Biddle settled down as he would retire 13 out of the next 15 batters he faced.  

Biddle got into trouble in the top of the sixth inning as he gave up a lead-off single then recorded the next two outs. Devin Harris walked then Ricky Oropesa hit a RBI single to give Richmond a 2-0 lead. Biddle walked Mitch Delfino to load the bases then left the game for Hoby Milner. Milner pitched to Myles Schroder and threw a wild pitch that allowed Harris to score and give Richmond a 3-0 lead. Milner struck out Schroder to end the inning.

Biddle allowed three runs in 5 1/3 innings off four hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Miler tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings while Adam Loewen pitched one scoreless innings.  

The Fightin Phils scored six-runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 6-3 lead. Gabriel Lino and Brian Pointer walked to begin the inning off reliever Joan Gregorio. Pedro Rodriguez entered the game in relief of Gregorio. Cameron Perkins hit a pinch-hit two-run double off reliever Rodriguez while Roman Quinn hit a RBI single in the following at-bat. Aaron Altherr hit a RBI triple while Brock Stassi hit a RBI single.  

The Fightin Phils will wrap up their series against the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Monday morning. First pitch is at 11:35 am. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 11:05 am.
