RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces (14-6, 49-46) returned from the All-Star break by being swept by the Tacoma Rainiers (11-10, 54-43), the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, this past weekend at Cheney Stadium.
A bulk of Reno’s offense came in Friday’s 5-4 loss as Pavin Smith and Deyvison De Los Santos mashed solo shots, and Albert Almora collected three hits, including two doubles, to drive in two runs.
Almora had a productive series, going 5-for-10 (.500) with four doubles, two RBI, and three walks. The outfielder stayed consistent atop the Aces lineup, slashing .293/.352/.430 with 26 doubles and 51 RBI this season.
Adrian Del Castillo led the offense with a three-hit performance in Saturday’s 4-3 defeat. Logan Allen posted a solid start in the loss, surrendering one run on two hits across five frames; he struck out four but walked a season-high six batters.
Rainier’s starter Emerson Hancock silenced the Aces in Sunday’s loss as he spun a complete game shutout to send the Aces back to Reno.
The Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field on July 23rd to host their Silver-State rival, the Las Vegas Aviators, the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. PT.
