RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces (36-26, 71-66) came away with a series victory against the El Paso Chihuahuas (23-40, 54-84), the Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, this past week at Greater Nevada Field. Reno took four out of six from El Paso.

Reno got an early lead, coming out on top 7-2 in Tuesday's series opener. Bryson Brigman and Sergio Alcantara provided the offense, each driving in three runs. Brigman collected his ninth home run of the year, a solo shot off Gabe Mosser in the fourth inning. However, Humberto Castellano's brilliance on the mound set the Aces up for victory. The righty tossed six innings of one-run ball, walking two and punching out four in his seventh campaign win.

A productive performance led Thursday's close 4-3 victory by Logan Allen, who held the Chihuahuas to three runs in 6 2/3 innings of work with one walk and three strikeouts. Kyle Garlick and Tim Tawa both registered RBI knocks, supplying the BLC-Nine with enough run support to tally their second win of the series.

The Aces concluded the weekend on a high note, taking down El Paso in back-to-back victories on Saturday and Sunday.

The bullpen got it done in Saturday's 6-0 shutout win. Konnor Pilkington got the start on the bump in part of a bullpen day for the Aces, tossing three scoreless frames with one walk. Christian Montes De Oca, Kyle Amendt, Jose Castillo, and Yilber Diaz trailed the southpaw out of the pen, combining for six innings with one walk and five punchouts. Tristin English continued a solid second half, gathering four knocks in the win. Alcantara stayed hot with the bat, collecting two hits with two RBI.

In Sunday's finale, Reno secured the series victory in a 17-hit, 11-run offensive outburst. Six members of the Aces posted multi-hit performances, including three-hit efforts from Michael Perez and Tawa. Perez and Tawa sparked the rally with big flys in the first frame. Perez added another round-tripper in the third, his 6th of the year. Alcantara finished his best series of the year with his seventh home run, a three-run shot into right field. Castellanos enjoyed another effective outing, earning his second win of the series after allowing four runs in six innings with seven punchouts.

Alcantara closed the series going 11-for-21 (.524) with three extra-base hits and 11 RBI. The switch-hitting infielder led the Pacific Coast League in batting average and RBI while tying for first in hits. The 28-year-old raised his season batting average from .264 to .276 with the dominant series. He takes a six-game hitting streak into the upcoming road trip against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys.

The Aces return to Greater Nevada Field on September 17 to host the Albuquerque Isotopes, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. PT.
