The Reno Aces completed their longest homestand of the 2022 season and finished their April home schedule with a six-game series against the Salt Lake Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels. The Aces took four out of six games, including two walk-off wins.

The Aces won over the Bees Tuesday afternoon in dramatic fashion in the series opener. Tied at three in the bottom of the ninth, Nick Heath dramatically ended the game with a walk-off solo homer into the Aces bullpen for a 4-3 win. Tommy Henry had an impressive start on the mound with five hitless innings and struck out a season-high seven batters.

The Aces continued to ride the momentum from Tuesday, and it showed in Wednesday’s contest against Salt Lake. Trailing 5-1 in the bottom of the ninth, Stone Garrett ignited Reno’s rally with a solo homer to left field. Buddy Kennedy followed Garrett with a homer of his own to shrink the deficit to 5-3. After three Aces loaded the bases, Alek Thomas lined a walk-off grand slam over the right-field wall and into the Aces bullpen for a 7-5 Aces win.

Salt Lake and Reno duked it out in a classic back-and-forth battle Saturday. With three ties, the Aces ultimately came out on top after Yonny Hernandez lined an RBI single to left field for the 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth. Kevin Ginkel earned his second save of the year after tossing a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts.

The Aces finished the series strong against Salt Lake with a 6-3 win. Buddy Kennedy set the tone for Reno’s offense with a 2-for-4 effort and drove in two runs. Tyler Holton was sharp in relief with 2.1 shutout innings, allowed a hit, and struck out four batters.

The next time the Aces and Bees square off against each other will be in Salt Lake on June 21st, and then the Bees return to Greater Nevada Field on July 26th.
