West Sacramento, Calif. Logan Allen (W, 2-1) tossed six sparkling innings, allowing just one hit and one walk with six strikeouts to lead the Reno Aces (8-1, 43-41) to a 7-1 victory over the Sacramento River Cats (3-6, 47-37) on Wednesday night at Sutter Health Park.

Reno continued their fantastic start to the second half, emerging victorious in their eighth straight matchup and tying a franchise record in consecutive wins. The team previously recorded eight straight wins in June 2023 and May 2012.

Following back-to-back dominant outings, Allen has held his opponents scoreless through 11 1/3 innings, collecting an impressive 12:2 K: BB in that span. With the commanding performance, the southpaw lowered his ERA to 2.97 with 27 strikeouts and seven walks in 30 1/3 frames.

The Ace’s offense was blanked by River Cat’s starter and two-time Cy Young award winner Blake Snell through the first five frames, failing to record a hit and only reaching base on a walk by Kyle Garlick. However, after Clay Helvey replaced Snell in the sixth inning, the BLC-Nine awoke for seven runs behind a handful of two RBI knocks from Deyvision De Los Santos, Tristin English, and Bryson Brigman.

Miguel Castro, Austin Pope, and Chris Rodriguez backed Allen out of the pen, allowing one unearned run through three combined frames with four strikeouts. The Aces bullpen has been magnificent since the second half kicked off, posting a 3.60 ERA while holding hitters to a .257 batting average over 35 innings.

The Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field on Thursday, July 4th, to fight for a franchise record ninth straight victory against the Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The first pitch of the series opener on Independence Day is set for 6:35 p.m. PT.
