Reno, Nev. – After taking the series against the Oklahoma City Baseball Club this past week, the Reno Aces (5-1, 40-41) will hit the road for their first away series of the second half to Sacramento to battle the River Cats (3-2, 47-33), the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, for a three game-series set to begin on Monday, July 1, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:45 p.m. PT.

The Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field on July 4 to celebrate the Fourth of July Weekend and host Sacramento for a three-game set.

The Aces and River Cats have split the season series, winning six out of 12 matchups. After both squad’s respective series, Reno and Sacramento will meet for one last time at the end of July/beginning of August for a six-game series at Sutter Health Park.

Donovan Walton and Carson Seymour headline the River Cats roster ahead of the three-game matchup.

This season, Walton has been trouble for the Aces, going 9-for-22 (.444) with four extra-base hits (two home runs), nine RBI, and six walks. The lefty-swinging infielder has enjoyed a productive June, slashing .296/.386/.493 with three round-trippers and 17 RBI. He will look to continue his success against the Aces in the upcoming series.

Seymour, the #17 overall prospect in the Giant’s system, has been lights out in two starts against Reno, allowing only one run in 10 innings with six total strikeouts and four walks. Notably, the right-hander posted his best outing of the season in his last appearance vs. the Aces on 6/12, tossing six innings, allowing one run (no earned) with four punchouts. Seymour will carry a 3.99 ERA with 61 strikeouts and 36 walks in 67 2/3 innings into the matchup.

Albert Almora has blistered the River Cats’ pitching this season, going 18-for-53 with five doubles and 12 RBI. The outfielder is coming off an efficient series against Oklahoma City, where he collected seven hits, including a clutch home run on Saturday night to give the Aces the lead they needed to come away with a win. Almora has been an important piece of the Aces offensive production this season, slashing .290/.343/.427 with 22 doubles and 47 RBI in 307 at-bats.

Sacramento has had considerable problems controlling the powerful Kyle Garlick. The 32-year-old has launched five of his 16 big flys against the River Cats, hitting .309/.344/.636 with an additional three doubles and 17 RBI. Garlick has consistently supplied the Aces lineup with power in the three-hole this season as he ranks 5th in home runs (16) and RBI (60) in the Pacific Coast League.

Cristian Mena has found success against the River Cats, allowing four runs (three earned) in 11 innings with five strikeouts. The exciting prospect collected his first quality start of the year on 4/5 against Sacramento, limiting his opponent to one run across six frames with two punchouts.

The Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field for a three-game set against the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The series will begin on Thursday, July 4, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
