RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces (20-18, 55-58) captured only one victory in their final six-game series against the Tacoma Rainiers (21-17, 64-49), the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, of the 2024 season at Greater Nevada Field this past week.

The Aces collected their lone win dominantly on Thursday night, putting up a season-high 22 runs. Pavin Smith and Michael Perez led the way, driving in five runs apiece. Smith went 3-for-6 with his 10th big fly of the year, surprisingly the only home run hit in the game despite scoring a record number of runs. Perez collected five base knocks, including two doubles with his five RBI. Sergio Alcantara was influential in the win, driving in four runs with a three-run triple in the bottom half of the first frame to put Reno up early. Bryson Brigman continued his fantastic season with a four-hit effort, roping a double with an RBI. Reno’s 22 runs in the victory were the most they have had since they scored 22 against Salt Lake on May 5, 2017.

Smith enjoyed a productive series, going 8-for-23 (.348) with two doubles, two home runs, and eight RBI. The 28-year-old has been red-hot in August, slashing .375/.447/.625 with four extra-base hits, 10 RBI, and five BB.

Brigman continued his break-out season, roping two home runs with four RBI. The efficient series raised his season slash line to .320/.369/.453 with 20 extra-base hits, five home runs, and 37 RBI.

The Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field on Tuesday, August 20, to host the Las Vegas Aviators, the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. PT.
