RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces (14-3, 49-43) secured their third straight series win after taking three out of five from the Round Rock Express (8-9, 45-46), the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, this past week at Greater Nevada Field. The series was initially set for six games; however, due to wet grounds, Sunday’s finale was canceled.

Reno brought a franchise-best, 11-game winning streak into the series. Tuesday’s 14-10 offensive battle turned the streak into 12 straight after Reno collected 17 hits, including an incredible three-home run performance from Adrian Del Castillo. Blaze Alexander made an immediate impact in his return to Greater Nevada Field after spending the first half of the year with the Diamondbacks, blasting his first big fly as an Aces member. Jorge Barrosa was in on the fun, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and his second round-tripper of the year, a no-doubt shot into rightfield.

Despite a setback in Wednesday’s 8-7 loss, the Aces showed their resilience in Thursday’s matchup, securing a 9-4 victory over the Express. Andres Chaparro, Pavin Smith, and Kyle Garlick led the offensive charge. Chaparro had a standout day, going 4-for-4 with his 18th home run of the year. Smith and Garlick were instrumental in the win, each driving in three runs.

With Sunday’s game being canceled, Saturday’s close 2-1 victory gave the Aces a series win. Garlick supplied Reno with all their runs after roping a two-run home run off Tim Brennan in the second inning. Konnor Pilkington, however, was the hero in the win. The lefty tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings of one-hit ball, allowing no walks and punching out three. Pilkington gave up a single to Davis Wendzel in the second inning before sitting down 12 straight to give him his third win of the year.

Garlick enjoyed a productive series, going 8-for-16 (.500) with eight extra-base hits, five home runs, and 14 RBI. The power hitter’s best day at the plate came in Friday’s 7-6 loss, as he smashed two home runs, his 19th and 20th, with four RBI. Garlick will ride a seven-game hitting streak into next week’s series vs Tacoma. He has gone 11-for-28 (.393) with five home runs and 13 RBI over that stretch. After the positive series, the California native now ranks second in home runs (21) and RBI (74) in the PCL.

The Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field on July 23 to host their Silver-State rivals, the Las Vegas Aviators, the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. PT.
