Minor League Baseball announced on Tuesday, June 30 that Major League Baseball has informed the league that it will not be providing its affiliated Minor League teams with players for the 2020 season. As a result, there will not be a professional Minor League Baseball season in Round Rock in 2020.
Therefore, we will celebrate all the children that participated in Spike's Reading Challenge in 2021! We do apologize for the delay but we wanted to ensure we honor all aspects of what was outlined in the challenge. Should you have any questions, please email [email protected]. Thank you.
Given recent events around the world and with more children learning from home at this time, we invite you to join us in Spike's Reading Challenge for kids 12 and under of all reading levels! Starting Monday, March 23, 2020 through Friday, May 15, 2020, log your hours read in order to receive two (2) general admission outfield lawn tickets to our game on Sunday, July 5, 2020.
Not only will each reading log submission receive tickets, but additional prizes will be awarded on Sunday, July 5, 2020 for readers who reach the following milestones:
- Level One (25 hours): Child can select a small prize
- Level Two (50 hours): Child can select a large prize
- Level Three (75 hours): Child can participate in a pregame parade
- Level Four (125 hours): Child can be on the field for the National Anthem
- Top reader (most hours) from all submissions: Child can call "Play Ball" before the start of the game
Please note that prizes are cumulative; so for example, a child that reads 50 hours will get to select both a small and large prize! Parent reading logs submitted by Friday, May 15, 2020 will receive two (2) complimentary general admission outfield lawn tickets and the child outlined on the log will be eligible for the aforementioned prizes. As we get closer to Sunday, July 5, 2020, we will send an email to the parent email address provided on the form with a link for your digital tickets as well as instructions on how to claim any additional prizes.
Please take advantage of Spike's Reading Challenge reading log/coloring sheet and coloring bookmarks for kids during this time. Additionally, we have put together several videos on our YouTube channel of our staff reading full books and short summaries to Spike.
