SKY SOX WIN 3-2, TAKE SERIES OVER BABY CAKES
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Sky Sox completed their third series win overall with a 3-2 victory over the Baby Cakes Friday night in New Orleans, improving their record to 11-4 on the season. Right-hander and Brewers number 10-rated prospect Freddy Peralta (4-0) remains perfect on the season after a solid five-inning, four-hit performance while allowing one earned run and striking out seven. Mauricio Dubón highlighted the night offensively with his 3-for-5 performance with a home run and two RBI.
Unlike last night, the scoring got started in the early goings of the final matchup of the four-game set. New Orleans opened the game up with a 1-0 lead in the second following three consecutive hits by leadoff Scott Van Slyke, Rafael Ortega, and an RBI double by Eric Campbell.
In the fourth, the Sky Sox broke through to tie the game up at one apiece on Dubon's solo home run, marking the first Sky Sox leadoff home run of 2018 and his second of the season.
Colorado Springs would gain momentum from there and score solo runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings. The fifth frame was initiated on Johnny Davis' short dribbler in front of the catcher, which sparked 'Cakes manager Arnie Beyeler, who argued interference and would eventually be ejected by home plate umpire Blake Felix. With Davis on third and one out, Andrés Blanco grounded to the third baseman, forcing a rundown with Davis, who would be tagged out, but allowed Blanco to advance into scoring position. With two outs, Dubon collected his second RBI on the night to give the Sky Sox their first lead (2-1).
In the sixth, the Sky Sox added an insurance run on Nate Orf's no-out single to bring in Christian Bethancourt, who walked to leadoff the frame.
The Baby Cakes matched the Sky Sox solo run in the bottom half of the sixth thanks to Ortega's one-out triple which set up for Campbell's sacrifice fly to right field to make it a one-run ballgame, but a final 3-2 score.
The Sky Sox will head to Round Rock tomorrow to take on the Express for three games before returning to Security Service Field on Wednesday for a nine-game home stretch.

Peralta Stays Perfect: In just his fourth Triple-A start, Freddy Peralta continues to be perfect, holding a 4-0 record on the season. So far, the right-hander has totaled 21 innings pitched, collected 27 strikeouts, and has only allowed 15 hits and three earned runs. On Friday night, Peralta tied a season-high in strikeouts yet again with seven, marking his third straight start with that total. The 2018 season marks the Brewers number 10 prospect's third full season. Last season, he was named a Carolina League mid-season All-Star.
That's A First: Infielder Mauricio Dubon collected the Sky Sox first leadoff home run of the season, coming in the fourth inning off of Adam Conley to tie the game at one apiece.
Saturday's Expectation: In the first game of the three-game set at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas, right-hander Brandon Woodruff (2-0, 1.59) get the ball for the Sky Sox while righty David Ledbetter (0-2, 6.43) is set to oppose him on the bump for the Express.
Getting Streaky: Mauricio Dubon extended his hit streak to 10 games last night while Tyrone Taylor continued his, making it a nine-gamer after a solo-hit night for the outfielder. Dubon has gone 15-for-43 over 10 games with eight runs, two home runs, six RBI, and two stolen bases. His longest recorded streak in 2017 with the Sky Sox was seven games. Taylor is currently riding a nine-gamer as he has gone 12-for-33 with a double, triple, home run and six RBI. Phillips looks to keep his alive as he is currently at four games. Last season, his high streak was 11 games.
Sky Sox Leaders: Among the league, the Sky Sox hold leaders in various categories. Freddy Peralta is 8th in top 10 pitching with a 4-0 record and 1.29 ERA; his four wins also put him atop the category and he is tied for first in strikeouts (27) as well. Meanwhile, Brett Phillips is tied for first in triples (3) and third in on-base percentage (.521).
Keep the Momentum: So far this season, the Sky Sox hold a 4-0 team record when facing left-handed starters. Friday night, southpaw Adam Conley took his second loss to the Sky Sox, extending the Sky Sox record to remain perfect.
It's A Thing: Last season, after the first 15 games played in season, the Sky Sox held a 10-5 overall record. This season, with the Sky Sox victory Friday night, they improve to an 11-4 record overall after the first 15 games.  
K-Machine: Corbin Burnes' nine strikeouts on Thursday night marked the most strikeouts by a Sky Sox pitcher this season so far. The previous high was Freddy Peralta's seven recorded on April 15 against Round Rock. The last Sky Sox pitcher to collect 10 or more strikeouts was Josh Hader - on August 21, 2016, he struck out 12 batters at Round Rock.
Previewing Next Week: The Sky Sox are set for one of the longest homestands of 2018 next week - a nine-game stretch while hosting the Omaha Storm Chasers, Triple-A affiliate of the Royals, and the Nashville Sounds, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics.
