2023 MLB Postseason Features 13 Indians Alums

Spokane, Wash. - After a grueling 162-game regular season, the quest for baseball's ultimate prize begins now. A total of 13 Indians alums spread across six contenders will compete in this year's MLB Postseason, which kicks off Tuesday with the first four games of the Wild Card round.

The Texas Rangers lead the way with five former Indians—including three-time World Series champion skipper Bruce Bochy—trying to bring a title to the Lone Star State. Tampa Bay is a close second with four Indians alums (plus Spokane native and Ferris grad Andrew Kittredge) on their postseason roster.

Four other teams have a lone representative from the Lilac City while the Arizona Diamondbacks, Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers and Minnesota Twins will all be without an Indians alum in the playoffs. Texas Rangers: Bruce Bochy (manager), Pat Cantwell (bullpen catcher), Martín Pérez, Corey Ragsdale (first base coach), Leody Taveras

Toronto Blue Jays: Erik Swanson

Each of the past two World Series winners featured one former Spokane Indians player on their roster (Gary Pettis - Houston '22, Jesse Chavez - Atlanta '21) while the last Fall Classic without an Indians alum on the title-winning team was 2020.
