Five Spokane Indians Named NWL All-Stars

Spokane, Wash. - Minor League Baseball™ (MiLB™) announced today the league awards and All-Star teams for the three leagues that make up the High Class-A classification. The Spokane Indians were well represented with a total of five Northwest League All-Stars - tied for the most with the Everett AquaSox - plus the circuit's Most Valuable Player and top MLB prospect.

Adael Amador earned All-Star honors at shortstop after slashing .302/.391/.514 with 14 doubles, three triples, nine home runs, 35 RBI, 12 stolen bases, and more walks (31) than strikeouts (26) in 54 games with the Indians. The 20-year-old switch-hitter, who is the Rockies top prospect and No. 21 overall prospect in baseball, was also named the NWL's top MLB prospect based on his advanced approach and burgeoning power at the plate.

Jordan Beck hit .292/.378/.566 with 20 home runs, 19 doubles, one triple, 72 RBI, 11 stolen bases, and a .944 OPS in 76 games with Spokane to take home MVP honors and a spot on the NWL All-Star squad. Despite being promoted to Double-A Hartford on July 3, Beck still finished second in the NWL in homers, third in RBI, and led the circuit in slugging. The 22-year-old twice earned NWL Player of the Week (5/7 and 5/21) and was named NWL Player of the Month in June after slashing .316/.431/.537.

Yanquiel Fernandez spent just 58 games in Spokane but that was more than enough to receive an All-Star nod in the outfield. The 20-year-old Cuban batted .319 with 14 doubles, 17 home runs, and 64 RBI while twice being named NWL Player of the Week (5/14 and 6/11) and earning NWL Player of the Month laurels in May after leading all of MiLB in hits and total bases. That month also saw Fernandez win an Indians fan $10,000 with a grand slam and complete the team's first cycle in over 40 years.

Carson Palmquist was one of four starting pitchers named to the NWL All-Star team after thriving in his first full season of professional baseball. The southpaw out of Miami posted a 7-2 record and 3.73 ERA with Spokane while striking out 106 over 70 innings. Palmquist's 13.6 K/9 mark with the Indians was tops among NWL hurlers and second in all of Minor League Baseball (minimum 70 innings pitched).

Sterlin Thompson played primarily at third base for Spokane but earned the utility spot on the NWL All-Star squad (Thompson projects to play second base or in the outfield moving forward). The 22-year-old hit .323/.399/520 with 22 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 39 RBI, and 14 stolen bases in 60 games with the Indians, including an absurd .463/.513/.746 mark in the month of April.
