SPOKANE, Wash. - MLB's long-awaited Opening Day has finally arrived and twenty-four former Spokane Indians players find themselves on big league rosters. A total of seven Indians alums will open the season with Spokane's parent club—the Texas Rangers—including first time call-up Leody Taveras, who will be the second player from the 2016 team to reach the majors. The Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles both feature a trio of former Spokane players, Seattle has a pair, and nine other teams have a lone representative from the Inland Northwest. Astros pitcher Zack Grienke, who played for the Indians in 2002, is the eldest statesman of the group at 36 years old while the 21-year-old Taveras is the youngest and most recent to have made his debut for Spokane (Chi Chi Gonzalez originally played for the team in 2013 and returned for two rehab starts in 2018).
