Tacoma Rainiers to Become La Familia de Tacoma for Five Games to Celebrate Latin Culture in the South Sound

TACOMA, WASH- To celebrate and bring awareness to Latin culture in Tacoma and around the globe, the Tacoma Rainiers are joining Minor League Baseball's Copa de la Diversión (Fun Cup) initiative and will rebrand to La Familia de Tacoma for five games during the 2019 regular season. The Rainiers are one of 72 clubs participating in "Copa" this season, and announced the Latin rebrand during their Celebración de Tacoma at Cheney Stadium on Monday.
"Copa de la Diversión has been a huge hit around the league, and we are thrilled to get in on the celebration this season in Tacoma," said Tacoma Rainiers Creative Director Casey Catherwood. "We're honored to have been selected, and think these games are going to be something that fans at Cheney Stadium have a ton of fun with."
La Familia de Tacoma will debut at Cheney Stadium on Cinco de Mayo (Sunday, May 5) against the Albuquerque Isotopes at 1:35 p.m. PST. Fans can also catch Copa games on Thursday, May 23 against the Fresno Grizzlies, Friday June 7 versus the Nashville Sounds, Wednesday, July 17 against the Las Vegas Aviators and will host Fresno again on Thursday, August 15.
The team will don the new logo and colorway for all five dates, and have La Familia de Tacoma merchandise available now in the team store and online. Additionally, those in attendance can expect to see Latin decorations throughout the ballpark, Latin dining options around the concourse and will hear Spanish music playing throughout the games.
