The Tennessee Smokies were blown out by the Montgomery Biscuits on Thursday night, losing by a final score of 15-2.
Brandon Birdsell (1-2) started the game for the Smokies and gave up nine runs (five earned) on seven hits in three and a third innings pitched.
Despite the big loss, Kevin Alcantara had a great game offensively for the Smokies going 4-for-4 with an RBI.
The big inning for the Biscuits was the fourth. Montgomery sent 12 men to the plate and scored eight times.
Top 100 MLB prospect Carson Williams had a great game for the Biscuits going 3-for-6 with two home runs, three RBIs and three runs scored.
Patrick Wicklander (1-0) picked up the win for the Biscuits in relief.
These two teams will meet for game four of the series on Friday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
