The Tennessee Smokies picked up a 7-2 victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts on Monday night at Smokies Stadium.

Brandon Birdsell threw a gem on the mound, working seven innings while striking out nine for the Smokies. He gave up just one hit, a home run that put the Lookouts on the board in the seventh. Jeff Belge and Eduarniel Nunez closed things out on the mound for Tennessee with Nunez surrendering a ninth-inning home run.

The Smokies' offense got started in the first inning, plating a run behind a sacrifice fly from Kevin Alcantara and adding another on a solo shot from Hadyn McGeary. The Smokies got three more runs in the sixth inning from an RBI single by Felix Stevens and a two-RBI single from Josh Rivera. Tennessee added another run in the seventh via a walk and Fabian Pertuz launched a solo homer in the eighth to cap off the successful offensive night.
