Mud Hounds drop series opener against St. Paul

Zach Logue was the starting pitcher for the Mud Hens. Logue got the night going nicely for the Mud Hens after recording three strikeouts in the first inning.
Woods Richardson opened the game on the mound for the St.Paul Saint. Richardson got out of the first inning without allowing a run to score to begin his day.
In the top of the second inning, St. Paul got on the board first after back-to-back solo homers from Chris Williams and _Jair Camargo _put the Saints up 2-0.
In the third innings, the Mud Hens were finally able to break the ice on offense. With two outs in the inning, Parker Meadows roped a double to left-center field to put himself in scoring position. Nick Solak followed Meadows with a single to right that scored Meadows and the first tun of the game for the Mud Hens, cutting St. Paul's lead in half at 2-1.
The Saints were quick to respond in the fourth inning. With runners on first and second, Anthony Prato singled to left field to bring home another run for the Saints and make it 3-1 Saints. Now with runners on the corners, Elliot Soto squeezed a run home to make a 4-1 lead after three.
Beau Brieske entered the game out of the bullpen to pitch the fifth inning for the Mud Hens. Brieske retired the side without giving up a run to take it to the home half of the inning.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Woods Richardson's day finished after getting two outs. A leadoff walk eventually lead Andrew Knapp to be at third base, the Saints went to** Josh Winder out of the bullpen and he was able to get the final out of the inning, stranding Knapp at third.
In the sixth inning, Brieske got the first two outs before Mud Hens manager Anthony Iapoce went to Matt Wislerout of the bullpen to get the final out. Wisler, got the last out getting a ground ball to shortstop to end the inning.
Wisler only had to get one out, as to start the seventh inning on the mound was Trey Wingenter. Wingenter retired the side without giving up a run keeping it a three-run ball game heading into the seventh inning.
Brendon Davis took it upon himself to shorten the gap between the Hens and the Saints with a solo home run over the right field wall to cut the Saint's lead down to 4-2.
After the Mud Hens cut the lead in the seventh inning_,_ Anthony Misewicz pitched the eighth inning and shut down the St. Paul lineup to keep the game within striking distance do the Hens.
Patrick Murphy entered the game on the mound to pitch the eighth inning for St. Paul. After allowing a single to Donny Sands, Murphy ended the inning without giving up a run, taking a 4-2 lead into the ninth.
*Miguel Diaz *pitched the top of the ninth inning for the Mud Hens. After walking the first batter he faced, Diaz allowed a one-out double to put runners on second and third. Jose Miranda grounded a single to left field to score two runs for the Saints, giving the saints some much-needed insurance going to the bottom of the ninth inning with a 6-2 lead.
Patrick Murphy pitched the eighth and ninth inning for the Saints. Grant Witherspoon leadoff the ninth with a single, but Murphy was able to strand the runner and secure the 6-2 victory for St. Paul.
