1B Sonny DiChiara's 1st inning grand slam set the tone for a terrific Tuesday night at Gesa Stadium, where four Tri-City Dust Devils (19-30 2H) pitchers combined to shut out the Eugene Emeralds (21-28 2H) by a score of 5-0 in front of 1,431 fans gathered on a Senior Night presented by Affinity at Broadmoor.

The first three batters reached in front of the slugger, who hooked a pitch from Eugene starter Esmerlin Vinicio (1-2) over the left field wall for Tri-City's first home slam of the season and a 4-0 lead. The blast was DiChiara's fourth home run for the Dust Devils and third salami of the season, having hit two at Single-A Inland Empire before getting called up. RF Jadiel Sanchez tacked on the fifth run in the 4th inning, blooping an RBI single into right-center with two out.

Dust Devils pitching baffled Emeralds hitters, allowing only three hits and striking out 14. Reliever Samy Natera, Jr. (1-0), followed starter Houston Harding's four scoreless innings with two of his own, striking out five and getting the win in his first outing on the Gesa Stadium mound in 2024. Dylan Phillips (2 IP) and Roman Phansalkar (1 IP) took care of the rest, with the latter striking out the side in the 9th to finish off Tri-City's fourth shutout of the year.

Game two of the series takes place at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday night at Gesa Stadium, where it will be Less Likes, More Love Night presented by Snapchat. Right-hander Ryan Costeiu (1-3, 2.29 ERA) starts for the Dust Devils while the Emeralds send left-hander Cesar Perdomo (1-5, 5.11 ERA) to the mound.

Broadcast coverage of the game begins with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday night both here and on the MiLB app, with video coverage on Bally Live and MiLB.tv.
