OTTAWA, ON - The Tri-City ValleyCats looked to take a series win from the Ottawa Titans on Thursday night after a tough loss last night in game 3 of the 4 game set.
Joey Gonzalez got the start for Tri-City. The ace threw 7 strong innings of 5-hit, 2-run baseball, leaving in a 2-2 ballgame. The two Tri-City runs would come courtesy of a Brantley Bell two-run home run, his 23rd of the season, in the third inning. Neil Abbatiello would enter in relief and be charged with a loss for the second straight night after surrendering the go-ahead run (the runner would reach against Abbatiello, but score on a single off of Brett Hanewich by Clay Fisher).
Ottawa closer Kevin Escorcia would retire the ‘Cats in order in the ninth to secure the Ottawa win, his 15th save of the year, and a series split.
