Surge pitchers shut down Frisco

WICHITA, KS - Pierson Ohl, Francis Peguero and Alex Scherff combined to pitch an exceptional nine innings of baseball for Wichita. They struck out a total of 12 batters and only gave up five hits. The Wind Surge bounced back after giving up the first two home games to Frisco

WICHITA, KS - Pierson Ohl, Francis Peguero and Alex Scherff combined to pitch an exceptional nine innings of baseball for Wichita. They struck out a total of 12 batters and only gave up five hits. The Wind Surge bounced back after giving up the first two home games to Frisco and defeated the RoughRiders 4-1.

The Wind Surge got a run on the board in the bottom of the first inning. With runners at first and third Patrick Winkle grounded out on a soft ground ball up the right field line that drove in a run from third.

Frisco tied the game up in the top of the second. Chris Seise hit a line drive RBI single to left field.

Yunior Severino hit his 21st home run of the season over the left field wall in the bottom of the third. The two-run shot broke the tie and gave the Surge a two-run lead.

Jake Rucker added a run to the Surge lead in the bottom of the fifth. He hit a line drive into centerfield for an RBI double.

Pierson Ohl made his sixth start of the season for the Wichita Wind Surge. He pitched five full innings where he gave up one earned run off three hits. He struck out five batters, walked two more and had a pick off.

The starting pitcher for Frisco was Nick Krauth. He pitched four and two thirds innings where he gave up three runs off five hits. Krauth delivered five strike outs and walked six batters.

The Wichita Wind Surge improve to (10-14, 38-54) and the Frisco RoughRiders fall to (13-11, 44-48).

NOTES: The Surge dealt 12 strikeouts in the ball game which makes it the 14th double digit strike out game in the last 21 games. Yunior Severino is second in the Texas League with 21 home runs.
