WICHITA, KS - The Wind Surge offense woke up late in the game and put some runs on the board thanks to a Willie Joe Garry Jr. RBI double and a Michael Helman sacrifice fly. Unfortunately, Missions pitching had already delivered five hitless innings and they had built a decent lead. The deficit proved too large for Wichita to overcome. The Wichita Wind Surge were defeated by the San Antonio Missions 9-2 and the series is tied at a game apiece.

San Antonio scored the first runs of the ball game in the top of the third inning. They scored four runs in the inning. Nathan Martorella and Marcos Castanon both hit ground balls for RBI singles. Cole Cummings drove in a run off a sacrifice fly to center field and Ethan Salas hit an RBI single on a soft fly ball to center field.

The Missions scored two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Jason Merril hit a sacrifice fly that drove in a run in the fourth. Martorella was able to reach home in the fifth off a wild pitch.

Wichita woke up offensively in the bottom of the seventh. They chipped away at the lead with two runs off a Garry Jr. RBI double and a sacrifice fly by Helman.

San Antonio added some insurance runs in the top of the eighth and ninth innings. Ripken Reyes hit an RBI double on a ground ball to right field in the eighth. Martorella hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth for his third hit of the game.

Jaylin Nowlin made his fifth start of the season on the mound for the Wichita Wind Surge. He pitched four and one third innings where he gave up six runs off eight hits. He struck out two batters and walked two more. He was credited with the loss, and his record falls to (3-1).

The San Antonio Missions starting pitcher Robbie Snelling pitched five innings where he gave up no runs or hits. He struck out nine batters and walked three more. He earned the win, and his record improves to (1-0).

The first place Wichita Wind Surge fall to (30-23, 58-63) and the San Antonio Missions improve to (26-27, 63-59).

NOTES: The Wind Surge have won 19 of 26 games in the month of August, which is the best mark in the league. The Wind Surge win streak came to an end at six games tonight. The streak ties the season high win streak mark of the season.
