WINSTON-SALEM, NC (August 30th, 2024) – The Winston-Salem Dash fell to the Brooklyn Cyclones, 9-2, on Friday evening at Truist Stadium in front of 6,432 fans.

Brooklyn (60-64) jumped on Winston-Salem (56-68) starter, Seth Keener, in the top of the first inning in his first start since July 4th. The first four batters against Keener all reached and scored, including a pair of RBI doubles from Ronald Hernandez and Junior Tillien. After getting two consecutive outs, a pair of singles brought home another run giving the visitors a 5-0 lead after half an inning.

Keener got through two innings, and in the bottom of the second, Wes Kath led off the frame with his 14th homer of the season to right, getting the Dash on the board but still trailing, 5-1.

In the third, Rikuu Nishida singled to open the inning and was driven home by Casey Saucke cutting the deficit to three, 5-2, after three innings.

The Dash bullpen got to work in the middle innings. Patrick Maybach, who came in for Keener in the third, cruised through two innings before allowing an unearned run in the fifth after a pair of errors. Trailing 6-2, Tommy Vail replaced Maybach and faced the minimum in the sixth and the seventh, punching out five.

While Maybach and Vail were impressive, the Dash offense went quiet, and Brooklyn added three more runs across the final two frames to take a 9-2 victory.

Winston-Salem and Brooklyn meet for game five on Saturday night. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. from Truist Stadium.
