GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers missed their opportunity to record a four-game sweep of the Clinton LumberKings to open the second half of the Midwest League season. Clinton defeated the Timber Rattlers 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.
Clinton (34-39 overall, 1-3 second half) took the lead in the top of the second inning. Peyton Burdick, the 3rd round pick of the Miami Marlins in the 2019 draft who was making his Midwest League debut on Sunday, started the inning with a single.
David Bradshaw was next and his routine flyball to left-center carried all the way to the wall for a triple.
Wisconsin (34-39, 3-1) had their best chance against Clinton starting pitcher
In the seventh, the LumberKings added two unearned runs against the Wisconsin bullpen with a little help from the Rattlers defense.
Wisconsin was charged with three errors in the game.
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers are off on Monday. The Rattlers return to action on Tuesday with the first game of a seven-game road trip that will take them to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Beloit, Wisconsin before they return home on July 2.
