Riders explode in 10th for extra-innings win

Frisco plates four runs in 10th for 8-4 win

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (April 20, 2024) – The Frisco RoughRiders scored four times in the top of the 10th on their way to an 8-4 win over the Arkansas Travelers on Saturday evening from Dickey-Stephens Park.

Tied at 4-4 entering into the 10th inning, the Riders (9-5) took the lead on an Aaron Zavala RBI single. After an intentional walk to Josh Hatcher loaded the bases, Maximo Acosta ripped a two-run single into the right-center field to push the lead to 7-4. Hatcher then scored on a steal of home with a double steal on.

Triston Polley (1-1) threw scoreless ninth and 10th innings to earn the win while Travis Kuhn (1-1) was dealt the loss for Arkansas (8-6), allowing all of the 10th-inning runs.

Emiliano Teodo was strong in his start for Frisco, tossing a season-best five innings, only ceding on unearned run on four hits while striking out three and walking one.

To start the scoring, Frisco plated a pair of runs in the second. Cody Freeman laced an RBI single to make it 1-0 before Cooper Johnson tacked on with an RBI ground out.

After the Travelers put up a run in the bottom of the fourth, Frainyer Chavez blasted his first home run of the season in the fifth to make it 3-1, and Frisco put up another tally on an Anchia throwing error in the sixth.

The Travelers then tied the game with three in the bottom of the sixth, setting up the extra-innings victory for Frisco.

Zavala, Kellen Strahm and Hatcher all recorded two hits on the day for the Riders.

The RoughRiders and Travelers will meet for the finale of the six-game set at 1:35 p.m. on Sunday, April 21st. The RoughRiders are slated to have RHP Nick Krauth (1-0, 6.52) start against RHP Raul Alcantara (1-0, 2.89) for the Travelers.
