June 19, 2015

(Akron, OH) June 19, 2015 - Former Cleveland Cavaliers all-star forward Larry Nance, and former Cleveland Force and Cleveland Crunch stars Hector Marinaro and Otto Orf headline the Akron RubberDucks' Saturday festivities as the team honors stars and memories from a long time ago, from the far, far away galaxy of the Akron-area suburb Richfield for its "The Richfield Coliseum Strikes Back - Star Wars Night" before the 7:05 p.m. game vs. the Erie SeaWolves at Canal Park!

In addition to the former stars of the Coliseum, the night will include a Larry Nance bobblehead for the first 1,000 fans, sponsored by Summa Health System, and the RubberDucks players will also be wearing Cleveland Force replica jerseys, which will be auctioned off along the concourse for charity.

Summa is also the sponsor of the "Star Wars"-themed post-game fireworks show, and will also be giving out 1,000 Summa baseball cinch bags and 500 hats as part of its having a "Hats Off to Dad" promotion. Finally, it will be Celebrity Saturday with the Mystery P.A. announcer, sponsored by the Northern Ohio Honda Dealers. Gates open at 6 p.m.

"Growing up in the area, I am extremely excited to see many of the stars I cheered on at Canal Park," said RubberDucks General Manager Jim Pfander. "Our goal is to present fans each game with Northeast Ohio's best value for affordable family fun. However, there are always a few nights that standout and get fans pumped up, and this is one of them!"

Joining Nance, Marinaro, and Orf are Walter Schlothauer, who was the rookie of the year with the Cleveland Cobras in 1980 and played with the Force and Crunch; Bruce Miller, who played for the Force and coached the Crunch from 1995-2002 leading them to the 1996 and 1999 championships; and Mike Sweeney, who played with the Force and Crunch in addition to the World Cup and Olympics for Canada. All of the athletes will be throwing out ceremonial first pitches and will be available for autographs on the concourse for a few innings.

Pre-game entertainment will be by the band the Cleveland Jumping Flea ukulele group and the evening's media sponsor is 97.5 WONE.
