Continuing the best season of his professional career, Burke tossed six scoreless frames and struck out a career-high ten batters while giving up just four hits. His season earned run average dropped to 1.10 ERA with the outing.
The ten strikeouts are tied for the most by any Hot Rods pitcher this season.
To compete with Burke, Moran tossed two scoreless frames and struck out five batters. Mendez completed the shutout and finished off the game by striking out the side in the ninth inning.
Combined, the trio of pitchers struck out 18 Loons hitters, which is tied for the most punchouts for the Hot Rods in any game this season.
The shutout with was the seventh for the Bowling Green pitching staff this season.
Offensively, the Hot Rods scored four runs in the third inning against highly-touted Great Lakes starter
