Baseball is a special game that brings families together and teaches children the importance of teamwork, hard work, and strategy. The game's impact outside of the ballpark, however, may be the most impactful on the surrounding community yet it sometimes gets overshadowed.
The Kernels Foundation has always been the proud charity arm of the Cedar Rapids Kernels ball club and has provided much more than monetary donations. For example, the Kernels Foundation provides the underprivileged youth of the Cedar Rapids community the dream to play baseball completely free of charge, provides a memorial scholarship to first-year college students and encourages tens of thousands of elementary kids to read throughout the dog days of summer. The Kernels Foundation and the Kernels have always been a leader in the Cedar Rapids community so it's time to officially "Take the Lead".
From the front office to the dugout, "Take the Lead" exemplifies how teamwork and collective efforts support Northeast Iowa. The Kernels are committed to being the community beacon for education, social and recreation programs.
