Heavy rain arrived in Fayetteville during the middle of the second inning, causing the penultimate contest of the season between the Charleston RiverDogs and Fayetteville Woodpeckers to be suspended. Fayetteville held a 2-1 lead when the weather arrived. The teams will resume the game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. They will then play a seven-inning contest approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first.
An eventful first inning began with each team hitting a leadoff home run. For the RiverDogs, Brayden Taylor hammered the first pitch of the night over the right field wall for his fifth home run. Cam Fisher answered with his fourth home run of the series to begin the bottom of the inning. The Woodpeckers loaded the bases with one out against Santiago Suarez, allowing Ricardo Balogh to put the Woodpeckers on top 2-1 with a sacrifice fly to right.
