DAYTONA BEACH, FL - On the heels of a memorable and exciting promotional season in 2017, the Daytona Tortugas are excited to announce their 2018 promotional calendar, presented by DME Delivers. The Tortugas have once again provided a can't-miss reason to be at the ballpark for all of the 70 home games this season. In 2018, the Tortugas will continue to expand on being the "Best Dressed Team" in baseball, debuting a new jersey each and every Friday throughout the season. New to 2018, those Fridays will also feature a post-game Fireworks Show. The Tortugas are set to entertain with a total of 24 fireworks shows, including every Friday and Saturday night home game.
Fan-Favorite Belly Buster Monday, Taco Tuesday and Thirsty Thursday return with an expanded focus on delivering the best fan experience. Belly Buster Monday includes two different Taste of Daytona's and a newly introduced Landshark Monday Mug Club. The biggest party in town starts at Jackie Robinson Ballpark every Thursday night-with the Tortugas adding live music to the Thursday Night Entertainment Series.
President Ryan Keur stated that, "over the next month, we will be making some game-changing announcements regarding the Tortugas and Jackie Robinson Ballpark. This promotional calendar is built with one thing in mind and that is our fans and their entertainment."
The Tortugas continue to build on being Volusia County's team with the introduction of Wishful Wednesdays, where the Tortugas partner with local community organizations to provide both financial support and create awareness. On April 25th, the Tortugas will partner with Cannonballs for Kayne and welcome the Human Cannonball to Jackie Robinson Ballpark for the first time ever. Kayne Finley was a swimmer at Spruce Creek high school who passed away last year from cancer at the age of 18.
Postgame Fireworks will no longer be exclusive to just Saturday Nights at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. With the addition of Friday Night Fireworks at The Jack, the Tortugas have nearly doubled the number of shows for fans in 2018. The Jack will once again be the place to be during the weekend-with the Tortugas continuing to build on the Tiny Tugas Nights and T-Shirt Giveaways each Sunday.
Mark your calendars because Bob Ross returns to the Jack after winning multiple Golden Bobbleheads and being named the top promotion in Minor League Baseball in 2017. But this year, in the form of an entire weekend (August 10-12) that will include fireworks, special Bob Ross jerseys, a pre-game 5K color run, pre-game painting classes and a specialty Bob Ross Bobblehead. The celebratory weekend of Volusia County's own will conclude with a Bob Ross T-Shirt Giveaway on Sunday, August 12th.
The Tortugas introduce a plethora of new promotions and theme nights in 2018, mostly on Friday and Saturday Nights with twelve different specialty jerseys and two bobblehead giveaways. This will include Big Shellbowski Night on July 14th, where the Tortugas will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the cult classic film with a unique bobblehead giveaway.
Returning from 2017 is Jackie Robinson Night (April 15), where the Tortugas will once again be the only team in baseball to all wear #9 jerseys in honor of Jackie Robinson. Also returning is Star Wars Night (May 4) and Super Hero Night (June 22). New to the 2018 season, the Tortugas will put on the first ever Daytona 5000 on Friday, April 13th, where the Tortugas look to welcome 5,000 fans in attendance while the team dons a NASCAR themed racing jersey.
"As the official promotional partner for the Daytona Tortugas, I am extremely excited to work hand in hand with Ryan Keur and his team to create memorable gameday experiences," said Joe Lovecchio, Business Development Manager of DME Delivers.
The Tortugas will also be home for Memorial Day Weekend (May 25-27), celebrating with fireworks after the games on Friday and Saturday. Additionally, the Tortugas will also be wearing specialty jerseys on Friday night and honoring many of our local heroes in a Hometown Heroes Card Set to be given away to the first 1,000 fans on on Saturday, May 26th. Submit your hero today!
The Tortugas will celebrate Independence Day on July 3rd against the St. Lucie Mets with postgame fireworks. Daytona will then be celebrating the Coke 400 the following weekend and The Jack will be no exception. Friday, July 6th, will be NASCAR Night, featuring special jerseys for the Tortugas and postgame fireworks. Saturday will be a rare day game for the Tortugas, as the front end of a Daytona doubleheader leading into the Coke 400.
