Six Rays Among Baseball America's Top 100 Prospects

Baseball America has released their Top 100 Prospects list, which features six members of the Tampa Bay Rays system. 2023 Bulls infielder Carson Williams, who is likely to play in Durham at some point again in 2025, was rated highest among the six as the 11th-best overall prospect, while infielders Brayden Taylor (#65), Tre' Morgan (#80), and Xavier Isaac (#87), along with right-handers Trevor Harrison (#90) and Gary Gill Hill (#94), were also listed.

Williams, who last week was rated as the Top Shortstop Prospect by MLB.com, spent the entire 2024 season with Double-A Montgomery, batting .256 (111-433) with 83 runs, 20 doubles, six triples, 20 homers and 69 RBI, along with 33 steals in 44 attempts, over 115 contests with the Biscuits. Among all Rays farmhands he ranked third in runs scored, RBI, and total bases (203), as well as tied for third in home runs, tied for fourth in extra-base hits (46), and tied for fifth in walks (58).

Selected by Tampa Bay as the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, California, Williams was rated as the 20th overall prospect by MLB.com prior to the 2024 season. He played in four contests with the Bulls in 2023, collecting one double in 13 at-bats while scoring three runs between August 15-20. Over 354 career minor league games, Williams owns a .256 average (348-1359), adding 248 runs, 67 doubles, 24 triples, 62 homers and 228 RBI.

while infielders Brayden Taylor (#65), Tre' Morgan (#80), and Xavier Isaac (#87), along with right-handers Trevor Harrison (#90) and Gary Gill Hill (#94), were also listed.

Taylor began the 2024 campaign with High-A Bowling Green before being promoted to Double-A Montgomery on July 31, combining for a .250 average (106-424) with 88 runs, 27 doubles, eight triples, 20 homers and 62 RBI in 114 contests, adding a .365 OBP and .858 OPS. He paced all Rays minor leaguers in triples, extra-base hits (55), and walks (76), in addition to ranking second in runs scored (88) and total bases (209), tied for third in homers, fourth in SLG (.493) and fifth in doubles (27) while earning South Atlantic League Post-Season All-Star and Baseball America Class-A All-Star honors.

The 24-year-old was selected by the Rays as the 19th overall selection in the first round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Texas Christian University. Over 139 career minor league contests, Taylor owns a .249 average (128-515), adding 107 runs, 31 doubles, 11 triples, 25 homers and 77 RBI, adding a .364 OBP and .861 OPS.

Morgan played at three different levels of the Rays system last season, splitting time between Charleston (A), Bowling Green (A+), and Montgomery (AA). Across 100 games he combined for a .324 average (121-373), adding 72 runs, 23 doubles, three triples, ten homers and 68 RBI, adding 20 steals along with a .408 OBP and .891 OPS. The 24-year-old finished second among Tampa Bay minor leaguers in batting average and OPS, in addition to fourth in RBI, fifth in OBP, tied for sixth in runs (72), and seventh in hits and total bases (180).

The Louisiana native was selected by Tampa Bay in the third round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Louisiana State University. In 114 career minor league contests he has compiled a .333 mark (140-421), adding 80 runs, 25 doubles, four triples, 11 homers and 74 RBI, along with 24 steals in 32 attempts, as well as a .417 OBP and .906 OPS.

Isaac spent most of 2024 with High-A Bowling Green before finishing with Double-A Montgomery. Combined over 102 games he accumulated a .264 average (97-367), adding 65 runs, 21 doubles, two triples, 18 homers and 78 RBI along with a .370 OBP and .850 OPS. He ranked second among Rays minor leaguers in RBI, in addition to tied for fifth in walks (58), sixth in homers and OPS, and ninth in extra-base hits and SLG.

The 21-year-old was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays as the 29th overall pick of the 2022 MLB Draft out of East Forsyth High School in Kernersville, North Carolina. Across 209 career minor league games he owns a .266 mark (204-747) with 140 runs, 44 doubles, six triples, 37 homers and 155 RBI, along with a .380 OBP and .877 SLG.

Harrison made his professional debut last year, combining for a 4-2 record and 3.34 ERA (72.2 IP) in 17 appearances (16 starts) between the Rookie-Level FCL Rays and Single-A Charleston, adding 87 strikeouts compared to 26 walks. The Florida native was selected by Tampa Bay in the fifth round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Mitchell High School in New Port Richey, Florida.

Gill Hill pitched the entire 2024 season with Single-A Charleston, posting a 4-4 record and 3.15 ERA (108.2 IP), adding 105 strikeouts compared to 27 walks. He finished fifth among Rays minor league pitchers in WHIP (1.11), in addition to seventh in ERA and tied for ninth in batting average against (.235).

The 20-year-old was selected by Tampa Bay in the sixth round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Kennedy High School in Somers, New York. Across 36 career minor league outings (33 starts), Gill Hill has accumulated a 5-9 record and 3.79 ERA (149.2 IP)(, adding 144 strikeouts compared to 46 walks.
